Coach Trips
Trips must be pre-booked. Contact Alan Canvess (01482 446320) for bookings and details for SOCIAL trips. Contact John Heckford (01482 354513) for bookings and details regarding SURVEY trips, which are for active CAMRA members who wish to be involved in the process of choosing pubs for the 2007 Good Beer Guide. Unless otherwise stated trips leave from the Deaf Institute on Spring Bank at 6 pm. Please call at reasonable hours! There are two sorts of trips:
Social Trips
Social Trips are usually run on the first Saturday of January to April. They are aimed at real ale drinkers who prefer quality to quantity. Occasionally by train but normally by coach, departing at 6.00 p.m. from outside the Express Hotel on Ferensway in Hull. A detailed street map of the destination is provided showing the locations of recommended pubs - you decide which ones to visit. The coach leaves for the return journey at 11.45 p.m. Drop off's are made at various points on main roads WITHIN the Hull city boundary.
Survey Trips
Survey trips take place from May to November on the first Saturday of the month. The beer quality is checked at six or seven pubs outside the city boundary. The pubs checked include the previous years GBG entries plus any other pubs that are recommended by members or non-members. It is the beer quality that is important, not the number of beers sold or that the pub is 300 years old and or in a picture postcard setting.
